Tito's Rating: 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
Mom said we were going to the Venice Farmers Market for mushrooms. I heard farmers market and assumed snacks. We were both right.
We met a mushroom maven with Sunshine Fungi — and apparently, she’s also one of the owners. They have a warehouse here in Sarasota, and their mushrooms are served at restaurants and sold around town. She started telling Mom all the restaurants that cook with them. Mom heard places we should try. I heard future patios.
Then Florida started doing that thing where it tries to cook you alive, so she gave me water, some air conditioning and a treat. Definitely a five mushroom experience.
Mom also bought their tinctures for her coffee, which means we now have to go back and “restock.” Tragic. Especially since the booth next door sells mini rum cakes. Mom bought key lime. Mom looked away. I made a decision.
Tito's take: Mushrooms for Mom. Treats for me. The key lime incident remains under investigation.
